How to Verify Ingredient Quality Before Shipment
A practical checklist for importers: COA verification, third-party testing, identity checks and the documents you should request from any supplier.
Start with the Certificate of Analysis
Every batch you buy should arrive with a batch-specific COA — not a template. Check that the batch number matches your invoice, that the assay matches your agreed specification, and that the testing lab details are real.
Use third-party testing strategically
For high-value botanical extracts and new supplier relationships, arrange SGS, BV or Eurofins testing before shipment. Focus on identity, active content, heavy metals and micro — the four areas where problems cluster.
Request the full document set
A professional supplier should provide SDS, TDS, allergen and GMO declarations, and certificates such as KOSHER or HALAL without friction. Reluctance to share documents is the cheapest due-diligence test available.
